Floppy drive busted?

Floppy drive busted?

2005-09-23 by Phreak boy

Hello Emax users

I recently bought one of these. I have loaded the o.s. (emax3.2)
onto three different DD floppies using the EMX software...each time
for each disk the same outcome - it says loading software and goes
tick tick tick duh, tick tick tick duh ....(my best attempt at
describing the sound of the floopy drive).

Is my drive screwed?

If so any ideas on replacement drives? emualtor.com mentions the
following:
The Emax floppy drive was orginally a NEC, but later models have a
Mitsubishi Full Height 3.5" MF353B - 12 UJ or MF353BA - 12U.

however on ebay neither of the two mitsubishi models are mnetions

Many thanks for your help...really appreciate it!!

You need a drive that you can set the jumpers on.
I have a copy of a page from emu from along time ago with a specific drive and it's pinouts for there entire line of samplers.
I am at work now let me see if I can dig it up tommrow.

Hi Kazper

Is your drive document for the entire line of samplers an electronic document or on paper? Would you and could you upload the list to the files section of the Emax group.

It would be of great interest as some group members have different kind of Emu samplers :-)

Best regards

Brian

Re: Floppy drive busted?

2005-10-03 by Phreak boy

Hi

Do you know where I set the jumpers? I didnt see anywhere in the back
of the floppy drive

I saw in some postings here that you could use a TEAC - I installed
a Teac FD-235HF - however it still doesnt appear to work - I weither
get 'load floppy disk' on the display or 'loading operating system'
depending on how the cable goes between the emax board and the floppy
drive ..either way the drive is not spinning /reading when i put a
disk in it

Or is it the case that this floppy drive is not compatable

Thank you all for your help - assistance.....stil lwaiting to hear my
12 bit gritty sounds :(((

RE: [emax] Re: Floppy drive busted?

On the Teac FD-235F drive you need to place the jumper on the MS and D0
spots.
I am trying to redo the old sheet I have from Emu in 98 on fax paper thats
almost unreadable for sampler drives for the emu line.
I will email it to the list as soon as I complete it.
