EMAX SE boot disk

EMAX SE boot disk

2007-05-31 by mikestanton_2000

I need a disk that will boot an EMAX SE. There is an EMAX at a local
pawn shop that doesn't have any disks with it. I would like to check it
out but the people there won't mess with it without disks. I would
really like it if I could get a disk to boot the sampler but not have
any sounds on it. I think they will let it go a lot cheaper if it
doesn't make any sounds (they will think it's broken). I'm pretty sure
it works ( I used to know the previous owner) but I don't want to spend
the $700 that they are asking. I've tried the EMXP software but I have
no way of knowing if it works. If someone would help me I would really
appreiciate it. Thanks.

Personally I think $700 is wa-a-y to much.

That was the whole point of asking for a disk with no
sound on it. They will think the sampler is not
working and will let it go for a lot less. Is there
anyone that could help me with this?

Mike-

I think you are missing the point. I paid $300 for an EMAX i with no
HD from an owner I knew about 6yrs ago. It may have gone for $600
then. They typically go for $250-400 now even in good condition.
Known working. So the pawn shop has it priced too high to begin with.
You should make it known to them the true street value, then pursue
the "but it doesn't work, so on ebay those go for $50 or $75,
etc...." Be ready to back it up with some expired auction papers off
ebay for known working and known broken units and your good to go.

As to the disk- use EMXP and create a floppy with files from the
group. Plenty of people have done that. There are people who will
make a disk for you, but may charge you $10-25....

Re: [emax] EMAX SE boot disk

Ted-

I've dealt with this pawn shop before. I bought a Korg
DW-8000 in perfect condition and with the turbo update
from them recently for $25.00 because the write to
tape switch was on instead of off. I'm pretty sure I
can get the EMAX for about the same it I can get it to
boot without making any sound. I tried the EMXP route
but I didn't have an EMAX to try it with and when I
went to the pawnshop it didn't boot. I just thought
some one here could lend me a hand. I'm not going to
pay $25 for a disk when that's about what I'm going to
be paying for the EMAX itself. I'll keep trying to
find a way to get a disk. Thanks for your insight.

if you are going to spend 700 dukits, and you like emax/emu get
yourself an emulator III, I would curse that guy out trying to sell
an emax for 700, obserd!

bought mine at a pawn shop for 200 and did not have any software but went to the emu site and downloloaded the manuel and it told me how to check some things without buying anything just download pdf and read through manual. That is how i found a multitude of sound hidden on the harddrive. ok hope this helps.

Re: [emax] Re: EMAX SE boot disk

2007-07-02 by mike stanton

the whole point of asking for a boot disk without
sounds on it is to make the people at the pawnshop
think the EMAX is not working right. I'm trying to get
this thing as cheap as possible (no way in HELL would
I pay $700). I've dealt with this shop before (I
bought a perfect Korg DW-8000 from them for $25. They
thought it was broke because the write to tape switch
was on and it wouldn't make a sound. I'm not stupid or
naive, I know what I'm doing. I just don't have a way
to make and test a boot disk that doesn't make any
sound. People keep saying "....$700 for and EMAX, no
way...blah, blah blah..." I know this. What I am
trying to do is get it for $25-$50.
