Hello, My Emax II is a 2213 2MB Rack model (I have checked it in the back of the sampler) and I use the OS version 2.10. So, it supposes to allow sampling in stereo but it does not. For instance, when I navigate to Sample > Place Sample, the choices are Pri/Sec but no Ster option. Do you have any idea ? Do you think it is an OS issue ? Thanks

I thought only the Turbo models sampled in stereo. I have the same sampler and it only samples in mono. I've always just assumed that's how it works because it is not a Turbo. -s* On Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 9:40 AM, yojx <rapman@...> wrote: > > > Hello, > > My Emax II is a 2213 2MB Rack model (I have checked it in the back of the > sampler) and I use the OS version 2.10. > > So, it supposes to allow sampling in stereo but it does not. Thanks for your answer :) Ok, so you have the same issue. However, I think the 2213 model samples in stereo. http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers/Emax2Overview/emax2overview.html http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul98/articles/emuemax.html# --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "s*" <scartattack@...> wrote:

when recording in stereo it uses the pri for 1 channel and the sec for the other then they are panned left and right this is how a stereo sample is done its the same with the emax1 you can record stereo but you can play tereo files you just have to save each wavefile as a seperate mono file

Further more when placing stereo samples, you have to do it twice. Once for the pri sample, once for the sec sample. Elk ________________________________

Ok, that's what I though. But, finally, I have to sample in mono ... twice ? --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Elk Latham <elk_latham@...> wrote:

yes but obvouisly you need to sample left channel as a mono sample and assign it to pri and then sample right channel as a mono sample and assign it to sec then hard pan the pri channel hard left and the sec channel hard right most samplers do it this way excert they record it stereo then split it into 2 mono wave samples via onboard software i use awave as you can record it in stereo through your sound card then you can split it into 2 mono files then i use cooleditpro to converte sample rate to that of the emax then i use emxp to make a bank image file with my wave files setting the pri and the sec then i load the file into the emax for editing and for making patches

So, it will be difficult to sample a vinyl directly :( If I read the manual (page 73), it is clear that I could sample in stereo :/ --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jammie" <jammie.emma@...> wrote:

It sounds strange to me. I have a 2212 keybooard (2mb) and it samples in Stereo Mode. Go to Sample module, and check if the LCD shows "CALIBRATING ADC". It is said the emaxII can sample in stereo if you get that message. Try to read the revision board for the main PCB for checking with other users, maybe it has got to do with it. Next time I open mine I will check the board rev and so. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "yojx" <rapman@...> wrote:

just sample it in the comp then use exmp to dump sample to disk then you can use a editor to clean up the sample truncat volume maximise and what ever you want to do then use emxp to dump to the disk format of emax i use most of my samplers as sample playback machines as there is much better capture software and looping utilities on the computer than there is in the sampler then i use the sound synthesis of the emax or what sampler i am using to get the flavour of the synths sound onto better quality samples if you want them gritier then sample them in 8bit on the comp they still sound way clearer than sampling through the machines especialy some machines have crap adc before the pcm converters as on the korg dss1 and the mirage

The other thing that hasn't be mention on this subject is that a stereo emax II achieves stereo sampling with an TRS insert style cable instead of having to 1/4" inputs. ________________________________

Check the output board, if you have a 5326 ADC then you have stereo sampling hardware. If it has a 5126 ADC then you have mono sampling. If you have a 5326 ADC and still cannot access stereo sampling then either the stereo sampling upgrade is not installed properly or the EEPROM has "forgotten" you have stereo sampling capabilities... /Tristan Thursday, October 22, 2009, 5:34:19 PM, you wrote: > It sounds strange to me.
