Hi, i changed the Emax I PSU (the new one is from an old PC) the Emax is still fully working except for the LCD (which was the only reason for changing the PSU). I have exactly the same problem with the LCD on my Emax Plus Rack. But the problem only occurs when hitting the buttons on the front panel too hard... as long as I'm gentle I have normal readout instead of maximum contrast on the upper line and minimum contrast on the lower line (because that's what it seems to be, if you look hard you can probably read characters "behind" the dark line of boxes). So I guess it's an LCD problem also - or a PCB problem of the front panel. I don't think it's the CPU or PSU because those wouldn't be influenced by pressing buttons harder (in my case). I have also seen that after SCSI retrofit where the connections on the EPROM socket aren't good. If the system is locked up, poweroff and remove and reseat the EPROM. Just a thought. if its the rack then you can adjust the pot on the lcd bord for angle it looks like yours on your emax2 is a little sensitive best to adjust then stick some silicon on the pot turn scew when it dries it wil stop moving
