Hi all, I am wondering if the above is possible, and if so- do I need any extra equipment or can i just install the ZIP straight into the Emax? Apologies if this has been posted already- I did a quick search but I have very limited time this evening. Thanks!

EMAX only has SCSI interface. You can get an ACARD 7220 / 7222, but they are very expensive. Easier to get SCSI interal zip, for the price, or get media drive like PCD-60B or 50B. Thanks. Will an internal SCSI zip will go straight in replacement of the floppy drive? Same for media drive? --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Ted Summers <djtbs1@...> wrote:

It depends what version of the Emax you have. Emax -> no SCSI Emax SE -> no SCSI Emax HD -> you have SCSI Emax HD SE -> You have SCSI Emax Plus -> Think you have SCSI There is a bunch of info on the net and in this group about it. You can sometimes upgrade non-SCSI Emax's to SCSI, but it depends on the motherboard version.

you might need a kit, depends- check my site: http://djtbs1.wordpress.com/2011/09/15/scsi-kit-do-i-need-one/ http://djtbs1.wordpress.com/2010/10/04/scsi-kit-images/ -T On Fri, Mar 15, 2013 at 12:29 PM, d0ct0rgr33nthum8 < wagwan.drgreenthumb@...> wrote: > ** > > > Do i need a scsi kit or something? > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "d0ct0rgr33nthum8" <wagwan.drgreenthumb@...> > wrote: > > > > Thanks. > > > > Will an internal SCSI zip will go straight in replacement of the floppy > drive? > > > > Same for media drive? > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Ted Summers <djtbs1@> wrote: > > > > > > EMAX only has SCSI interface. > > > You can get an ACARD 7220 / 7222, but they are very expensive. > > > Easier to get SCSI interal zip, for the price, or get media drive like > > > PCD-60B or 50B. > > > > > > > > > > > > On Fri, Mar 15, 2013 at 10:53 AM, d0ct0rgr33nthum8 < > > > wagwan.drgreenthumb@> wrote: > > > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I am wondering if the above is possible, and if so- do I need any > extra > > > > equipment or can i just install the ZIP straight into the Emax? > > > > > > > > Apologies if this has been posted already- I did a quick search but > I have > > > > very limited time this evening. > > > > > > > > Thanks! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

also- the floppy drive is not SCSI and Emax expects the floppy drive to be there (unless you jumper it, but that isn't my recommendation). -T On Fri, Mar 15, 2013 at 11:43 AM, d0ct0rgr33nthum8 < wagwan.drgreenthumb@gmail.com> wrote: > ** > > > Thanks. > > Will an internal SCSI zip will go straight in replacement of the floppy > drive? > > Same for media drive? > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Ted Summers <djtbs1@...> wrote: > > > > EMAX only has SCSI interface. > > You can get an ACARD 7220 / 7222, but they are very expensive. > > Easier to get SCSI interal zip, for the price, or get media drive like > > PCD-60B or 50B. > > > > > > > > On Fri, Mar 15, 2013 at 10:53 AM, d0ct0rgr33nthum8 < > > wagwan.drgreenthumb@...> wrote: > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I am wondering if the above is possible, and if so- do I need any extra > > > equipment or can i just install the ZIP straight into the Emax? > > > > > > Apologies if this has been posted already- I did a quick search but I > have > > > very limited time this evening. > > > > > > Thanks! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

As long as you can set the internal Zip to SCSI Device 0 when your SCSI HDD is not present, then you can boot from SCSI. In my case I have modded my Emax to have external SCSI w/ an external Zip Drive which can only be set to SCSI Device ID 5 or 6. So I must still boot the Emax Plus 1.0 OS from the FDD because SCSI Device ID 0 is needed to be present in order to boot via SCSI. Once booted then I can load banks from any SCSI by setting the Emax SCSI ID to read Device ID 5 or 6 for my external Zip drive by pressing the Transpose and then the number pad buttons to select. Hope that helps. -RVK

-RVKAnd forgot to mention that this is a SCSI version that I have of the Zip-drive.
