Yes, the EXS is not the hyper-blitz sound-mangling tool from your wildest dreams maybe, but: it's integrated in Logic, extremely stable, *very* CPU-efficient, sample accurate, and sounds very good. So if you want a stable, efficient sampler that will do any day-to-day tasks, you really can't go wrong with the EXS. Even better: if you get the $199 upgrade to Logic Pro (if you now have Gold or Platinum), you'll get the EXS and all other Emagic plug-ins & instruments for that money.
