If youve got an external drive, why are you recording to the laptop in 
the first place??
Copy the whole project folder to your external disk.
Then the next time you open it, Logic will ask where the files are.
Point it to em and all should be well.

Make sure you also double check the Record Path in the song too and 
update that if needed as well.
