Hi Paul,

I might answer here if Eli is offline.

The outputs you are assigning to are virtual objects internal to Logic's mixer
- they are not the physical outputs of your audio interface (altough you could
assign them to physical outputs). 

If you want separate processing of elements of a kit - snare, hats, kick etc  -
you need to send them to separate channels within Logic's audio engine - in
this case they are called outputs and aux objects as you state. 

The fact that you mix them back down to stereo is neither here nor there - to
use an analogy - if you record a band and put guitars, bass and vocals on
separate tracks you are most likely going to mix them all together down to
stereo after you have processed them separately. 

You are treating the kit in much the same way - as a bunch of separate
instruments which, for your convenience, can all be routed to one bus (a group)
to give you a stereo drum mix or all independently routed to the main outs.
