Hi Philly, As a potential buyer of the vsl too, I spent some time to understand this library, and wich configuration was needed for a symphonic "real-time" use : sorry, it's loud ! First, note that Gigastudio runs only under PC. And to achieve with "midi real time" the realism that you can hear in some demos, the only way seems to have a few Gigastudios on 2 or 3 PCs. Have a look on the vienna forums, some topics are about the "dreaming configuration" for vsl. Second, you must understand the vsl "philosophy" : it's arround "articulations", which are the different kind of play for each section. For an instance, for the complete violin section of the Pro Edition, you 'll have to load about 15 instruments. Even with streaming technology, as you said you'll need a lot of ram, and a lot of midi channels or virtual sampler instances. Anyway if you want to work with your G5 only, the "only" choice at this time is exs24, if you want to use the performance tools provided with vsl. As I know Mach5 is not reliable at this time. Considering you can load and play with good latency on your G5 about 50 instances of the esx24, you won't have the complete vsl loaded. Anyway it should rocks (!), and the logic issue is to freeze the achieved parts, then import then as audio files, then load new instruments. It should be difficult if you're working for movies, when you have to make several changes untill the final editing. My conclusion was given by the new vsl release of "Horizon Opus1", which is a simplified Pro Edition, wich seems to actually fit needs of single computer users. You'll save a large account of money, enough to buy a lot of ram, and it's still sound terrific... Regards, and sorry for my approximative english ;-) Yan
