Hi Julie,

Is it possible something might be wrong with your midi controller? It 
sounds like it is generating all of these random events on it's own. 
Maybe a battery is going low or dying on it. Or maybe a mod wheel or 
pitch bend wheel is broken or somehow generating erroneous midi events. 
I have a colleague who has trouble with an MR keyboard. It keeps 
sending pitch bend information along with note ons. I had to rig up an 
environment for it to filter out the PB events to straighten things 
out.

It might be worth investigating this. Maybe open a fresh blank song and 
record a few bars of midi from your controller and look at the results. 
If nothing else, it's an easy painless way to rule it out.
