Thanks for any input. One issue to consider is that Cardbus is a soon to be obsolete feature on laptops. PCIe has a cheaper and better alternative so you might find that the cardbus adapter will not work with new laptops within a year or so. Firewire might be less solid as an interface but I think it will be around for a long time as a port on new hardware. RME's Fireface is possibly worth considering if you were going with that companies products although it is more expensive. I suspect that the forthcoming obsolescence of both PCI and Cardbus (PC Card/PCMCIA) goes some way toward explaining the plethora or Firewire interfaces on the market these days - that and the desirability of connecting the same audio hardware to desktop and portable systems and the fact that you don't need to crack open the case and install a hardware card in the case of a PCI card. Cardbus RME works really well for me on PC and for lots of Mac users too from all reports on the RME company forum. Regards, Murray
