Hey, I was trying for the ultimate paradoxical effect... =) I was talking to Kelly Jacklin a while ago about this, and we tended to have different results. He swears by it, saying that if the path is incorrect the Mac does a quick CatSearch and comes up with the file in normally 7-10 seconds or so, then that helps get the reset of the samples. My times, on a G4 1.25 Mac, were much greater. We should mention that we use PC's much of the time, and the scheme REALLY hurts there, as there is no CatSearch available. (CatSearch takes advantage of the Mac HFS file system which integrates a mini-database with the filing system.) Not only that, once you try to load a .exs file with incorrect paths, you can't stop the process while Logic starts checking out your 250GB drive... CTL-ALT-DEL to the rescue though. Another possible advantage is that the EXS automatically rewrites the EXS file to update the paths, so you don't have to resave. SOme may like this, some may not. Since most EXS activity is on Mac, it would seem that a good argument can be made that the present system is OK. However, I don't see the hassle of simply putting up a status dialog with a cancel button on it; besides, isn't that Mac Interface Standard-compatible?? =) Garth Hjelte Sampler User
