That's got to be the understatement of the month or so.
To be honest, there's NO softsampler with a sample/patch archiving and searching scheme as lousy as the EXS. Even more amazing as
this has been the case since the very first version came out.
Once you got more than 3 samples of the same name and plan to reorganize your samples (or move them to another machine) you're
asking for serious troubles as the lousy sample search "engine" wouldn't even allow you to manually point it to a sample as soon as
the required sample isn't among the first three choices. In addition it's doing no CRC checks, so anything called "kick.wav" will be
considered as a probably suitable sample.
Really makes you think what's going on in Mr. Developers mind...

In case you really have loads of samples and reorganize them at least somewhat more or less often, the EXS Manager is indeed what
you need.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
