What would you sugest, I can put the EXS sample folder on my master

Hi Allan,
As said before, in general this is totally up to you. If you, for
example, move your samples around a lot manually (in explorer/finder
that is, for whatever reason) I would put them on the smallest drive
and specify that one in the EXS's preferences => will decrease
searching time. If you however make use of the EXS's VSM function, I
would eventually put them on your fastest drive. But again this may
depend on your style of working. In case you're using a lot of audio
tracks and large EXS patches as well it might be a better idea to run
them from independent drives.
Personally I am using the EXS in VSM mode (set to "medium",
unfortunately that's a global setting, I wish it was on a per song
base) and I'm storing all my samples on the first partition of my
audio drive. This is working very well for me, I can run a lot of
audio tracks (actually as much as I want) and am still getting pretty
good EXS performance. To me it seems that in times of fast computers
and harddrives you really don't have to care about these things too
much anymore in terms of performance, it's all up to your personal
preferences. For me it's just important to have all my regularly used
samples (for the EXS, HALion,. DR-008 and Battery) in one common
place that I will never forget to back up properly.

Sascha

Many thanks Sascha,
What I did was, I took out the EXS sample folder from Logic and put
it on a seperate partition on a drive that is on my PCI ide
controller card, and then did a short cut which I put into the Logics
folder. The EXS24 found the samples O\k.
Once again, many thanks, keep up the good work.
Allan.
