Mac EXS sample find slowdown

2002-08-21 by no_such_user

Hiya,

I imagine this may have been discussed before but I cant find it
searching on Yahoo. My EXS sample patches have always taken 4-5 secs
to load up on selection and I'd always put it down to the fact that
my old B&W G3 wasnt that quick. Ive just moved tto a new Dual 867
now however and the speeds the same!?!? After a lot of swearing and
experimentation, I've found that its because I move the aiff files
for the CD's I've converted to a different location to where they
were put during the conversion. (I always put the samples with the
instrument files so I can archive each *converted* CD to CDR so I
dont have to go through the conversion again on reinstall)

Does anyone know if I can force EXS to 'learn' all the new
locations to get back the faster loading times? It seems a very high
price to pay for not leaving samples in the default location... :-(
Having all the samples all in a mess in one folder is not very
appealing to me...

Ta,

~Pev

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
