You can use Translator www.chickensys.com, or CDxtract www.cdxtract.com - 
both PC or Mac. Both are commercial programs, but the demos in both cases 
(I think) do something to where you can do one or more as an example.

As a hack, you can always take the .wav files and build the instruments 
from scratch - sometimes that's not too much trouble.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
