if the quality of the filters are approaching that offered by something like 
the EMU E64 series Samplers then it's worth it, I still use the EMU for 
making certain sounds fit in a mix even now although it's a very ungainly 
way of working compared to the EXS.

what we really need is a range of decent filters on the EXS surely it's not 
too difficult for emagic now? maybe they could cannibalise some of the code 
from the ES2? [hasn't that got sophisticated filters?]  I know the EXS is 
supposed to be a kind of workhorse sampler but we could really do with some 
different filters.
