It goes like that:
- The cutoff value you're setting manually on the cutoff knob is your
"ModWheel = 0" value, no matter what you're doing. So in your case you'll
have to set it all the way to the right
- Then you will of course use the modulation matrix to route "Ctrl#1"
(source) to "Filter Cutoff" (target).
- The little triangle is there to define two things:
     a) In what direction values should be modified. Triangle up = values
will increase. With the cutoff being all the way opened allready, nothing
can be added. Triangle down = values will decrease. That's what you are
asking for.
     b) The amount of values being added/substracted. In our example, with
the triangle all the way down the ModWheel will do the same as turning the
cutoff knob from all the way up to all the way down. Most likely too much so
you will want to try with lower values for the triangle slider.
