I just downloaded and tried out the free Schimmel Grand (4 velocities,
btw). My first impression is that it is quite metallic sounding, not enough
warmth, particularly in the middle and low registers. It also sounds to my
ears like it was miced close up. I would prefer more room tone. But hey! -
it's free!!!
