Forget different MIDI channels, the multichannel concept refers to the audio samples used by EXS24. Here's how you use the multichannel functionality: Put the EXS24 on a track (using the MultiChannel version) Load up your desired program in EXS24. Open the instrument editor. Select a zone and put a checkmark in the box labelled EXS output. You will now se a field next to the checkbox where the default value is "Main". Here you can select other outputs (e.g. 3/4, 5/6 etc.) Zones or groups that are routed to "Main" will be sent to the instrument channel you have selected for the EXS24. If you select other output channels, these are routed to Aux-objects (which were new in Logic 5.2). If you have a drum program for the EXS24, you can send the kick drum to one Aux giving it one kind of treatment, snare drum to another Aux giving it other effects etc. The input source of an Aux channel is selected with the input assignment pop-up menu. The EXS24 has 5 stereo output pairs and 6 individual mono outputs. The first 10 EXS24 outputs are always configured as stereo pairs. Outputs 11 through 16 are mono outputs. Hope this helps. -- helge
