I can't help thinking that there's no easy universal solution. FM7 has a Library page that shows 4 banks of 32 presets each. It's very nice to see so many patches at once, but that restricts you as well, because you need to keep opening new banks for more sounds. I have a demo of Kontakt and I rather like their approach. There is an upper window which shows a hierarchical tree of your drive and the lower window shows the possible instruments in the selected folder. Certainly easier than EXS24 or Spectrasonics Stylus/Atmosphere/Trilogy. I'd like the option of a "library window" for EXS24 which does the same as Kontakt. Takes up some screen space, but saves you plenty angst and tension click-holding through layers of nested folders...... Does anyone from Emagic ever read this forum anymore? Regards - Colin
