Hi, I\ufffdm very interested (and sad) to hear about the MOTU issues, because I was strongly considering their new Firewire interface for my laptop. I saw most of the upcoming new solutions for laptops at Musikmesse, the MOTU as well as the Hammerfall PCMCIA looked both very promising (not taking in account any experiences with drivers, support and general experience with the companies). The big advantage of the Hammerfall PCMCIA is of course the different breakout-boxes they will offer - for different connection needs, and apparently the PCMCIA-version uses the same tested driver the "regular" Hammerfall uses... For Audio cards n general (not laptop): I\ufffdm personally very satisfied with my Midiman/M-Audio Delta1010 - although there apparently are some issues with driver updates not taking in account the wishes of the users and general support, the quality of the Delta series is excellent. For info about the Alesis AI-3 look here: http://www.alesis.com/products/ai3/index.html The price for one unit (in Germany) is about 1300,-- - 1400,-- DEM. I would be interested in more opinions / infos about the MOTU Firewire, Hammerfall PCMCIA, Emagic EMI 2|6 and other possibly good solutions for laptop... Regards, Tora
