Ah, yes, you're right of course -- I *was* thinking of solo
instruments indeed and not of ensembles...

Not sure if I completely get what you want, but it seems you could
use the 'Select by' parameter in each group. Set e.g. group 1 to
Select by Ctrl 1, range 64-127, set group 2 to Select by Ctrl 2,
range 64-127, etc.

Now sending a Ctrl 1 message >63 will switch on group 1 (or 3
velocity faded groups if you want). Sending a Ctrl 2 >63 will switch
on group 2, etc. This way different controllers switch on different
groups.
Now just have each controller switch on *3* groups simultaneously,
the 3 groups being the 3 dynamic levels of one instrument. 3 such
groups have their 'Select range' parameters set to 0-40, 41-80 and
81-127 to provide crossfading within the 3 groups, while the 'select
by' parameter determines if the groups are switched on _at all_.

This is exactly identical to what I posted yesterday, except that you
use the 'Select by' with different controllers for different
instruments.

Is this clear or not? I just got out of bed, so my mind isn't fully
up to speed yet :-).

Hey, there's a difference between knowledge and wisdom, okay? :-)
I'm glad to have been of help though... And just let me know if the
above isn't clear or mis-interprets your question.
