Vote for Manual for EXS24mkII.....would you like one?

2003-11-09 by rikkirivett

There's never been one, has there? - (I'm not counting
the "Update" .pdf of one or two pages, sorry) even though mkII is
incredibly powerful and much more difficult to understand than the
original EXS24.

Vote for a manual:

If any of you really understand how the "select" functions operate
and interact, you're smarter (or more patient) than I am - tell us
please!

Greetings to all

When the mkII was just out (when was that?) I wrote a piece about the
select function in this group. You might want to search the
archives. Basically it amounts to the select functions operating in
an additive manner: all conditions have to be satisfied before the
sample is played. The 'select by group' (the most esoteric of them
all imo) requires you to set one group to "start" (or whatever it's
called -- the only non-group entry in the popup). Other groups can
then be triggered by groups. So you could have group-1 play when you
first hit as note ('select by group', 'start'). Then if group-2 is
set to "select by group-1", the next note would trigger group-2.
Etc. So you could have a chain of group-1, -2, -3, ... each with
e.g. a slightly different tom or something, which would be triggered
in sequence when you play a bunch of notes. But again, yuo might
want to search the archive for the article I wrote when the mk II was
just out.

I have a pdf from 2001 of 86 pages (for MkI) and an update of 8 pages
(for MkII).
I believe they're on the latest Emagic CD's....

I also have the two documents you mention that were on the CD, only the 8-page
update for MkII is in German only. Not much use to me. And I can't find any
downloads at emagic web site for any exs manuals. I vote for a proper manual!

The 8 page update (English) is in the file section of this group and
available for free download.
