EXS Firewire streaming and Canopus video

EXS Firewire streaming and Canopus video

2003-11-25 by John Zuker

Does anyone know if using a Canopus firewire box to output a Quicktime movie
streamed from my internal ide drive will aversely affect the performance of
streaming EXS samples from a Firewire drive? They would be on seperate FW
ports.

FYI, I'm using G4 Quicksilver dual gig and LAP 6.1, TDM, Mix Plus.

Best,

John Z.

This is an old message, but i wanted to respond because I dealt with this issue
directly some time ago. Before Logic had built-in QT to FW capabilities I used
the third-party app by Synthetic Aperture called EchoFire to accomplish this
while scoring a TV series, and I found that to my dismay, when disk streaming
was enabled in the EXS, there was a horrendous amount of delay introduced
between the video and logic's playback. If streaming was turned off, this delay
would go away. I'm curious as to whether this has been fixed now that Emagic
has their own driver for QT, but I wouldn't be surprised if the problem still
exists. I'm not doing video at the moment and my DV bridge box was on loan
so I can't test it now. Anyone tried it?
