samples not showing up

strange problem here with my exs24

i changed to osx and the host tdm system bridge stuff.
i keep my samples on an external firewire disk, and the instruments in the logic
folder. worked fine under os9. after changing to osx the sampler didn't seem to be
able to find my samples anymore! the sampler itself works, produces a sinewave
sound, so it receives midi and the audio works. i can see the sampler instruments,
but as soon i choose one to load-- it just doesn't do a thing..

my dealer couldn't fix it, they suggested to open disk utilities and repair the system
disk. didn't help.

anyone??

thnx

I had this happen, though it was unrelated to OS change. I had also added
some more samples/instruments to my library. FYI, there seems to be an
upper limit as to how many instruments EXS will allow, after which it simply
won't see anything at all--no warning, and no indication that this is happening.
If this is the case for you, then all you have to do is remove some of your
instruments (try taking out half or something) and it will return to normal. I
don't know if you have a lot of instruments, but I have many thousands and I
had to streamline my collection before I was able to start using it again.

If this is true, then would the loops supplied by Apple's Soundtrack cause an
overload? I use Soundtrack, which has over 4,000 loops. Just wondering.

Oh - I've had the same problem for a week - I see no instruments in the
EXS window, though they're all
there where they're supposed to be in the sampler instruments folder. I
just added a few hundred instruments, and now can't use anything.
Is there really a limit? What is it, and how do you deal with it?
moving instruments into and out of the
folder? Yikes!

I don't know what the actual number is. Even the people at emagic didn't know,
but they acknowledged that it exists. I've tested this and have found it to be true
consistently. It seems to be related only to the TOTAL number of exs
instruments (not samples or audio files) in your "sampler instruments" folder. It
does not seem to have any relationship to how things are structured internally,
or how many folders you have inside, etc... Just the total number of exs
instruments can't exceed some number or the whole thing just disappears
entirely. The only solution is to go in and remove some that you don't need so
as not to exceed this number.
