Upgrade possible from EXSP to EXS24 mark II?

Upgrade possible from EXSP to EXS24 mark II?

2004-02-03 by betina22000

Anyone work with the EXSP (player only) using a lot of samples?
I found out that EXSP will not stream samples from disk. Bummer;
I don't own Logic yet, but want to use a load of samples (string
articulations, etc) with Express. Is there a way to do this? or
is Pro a requisite? Thanks.

Yes, you'll need Pro (or a 3rd party sampler). The EXSP indeed
doesn't support harddisk streaming, so if you can't load all required
samples in RAM, disk-streaming is the way to go.
Of course you can also get Express, and buy an additional 3rd party
AU sampler, such as Kontakt or Halion -- depends on your needs &
budget. Note that even though some 3rd party samplers offer more
features than the EXS, you'll never get the stability and tight
timing the EXS offers. If you want to use mainly prefab sample
libraries, the EXS probably is the best solution you can get (and
people's opinions vary wildly re: the usefulness of the extra
features in other samplers). If you're into wild sound-mangling
stuff, NI Kontakt might suit you better (although many people seem to
have been experiencing problems with NI plug-ins).

Is it possible to use EXS24 in Express? I have Logic 4 and purchased
EXS24 (full) seperately. I have not used either in a couple years,
but would like to get back into things, cheaply. That's why I'm
looking at Express instead of Logic. TIA!

Move to quarantaine
