hi-

hopefully someone can help me with this:

when i create a sampler instrument, everything works great until i 
close logic and reopen it.  then, my sampler instruments output 
basically white noise.  the original aiff files are completely intact, 
and factory settings work fine.  as you can imagine, this is extremely 
frustrating - i'm wondering if i'm missing something or if anyone else 
has encountered this problem.

i'm using logic pro 6.4.1 on panther with an emi 6|2 soundcard.

I am experiencing the exact same problem.  I can't figure it out.  I 
contacted Emagic support and they suggested I trash my preferences 
and try lodaing the samples as a group.  All of which I did, but 
unfortunately it still doesn't work.  I even reinstalled Logic 6 Pro 
completely, but still nothing.  I am planning on contacting emagic 
again today and if I find a solution I'll post it.  If you find 
anything out, please let me know.  You can email me at

Glad to see that at least I'm not the only one experiencing this 
issue.

I haven't tried this in the EXS, but I'm experiencing the same thing when I
try to edit samples taken from various sampling CDs in Peak Express.  The
samples play fine in Panther's finder preview window, but come up as white
noise in Peak.  This looks like it could be a Panther problem.

I've also found that those same CD samples won't load into Intakt at all,
though logic sees them fine.  If I use logic's copy file command to copy
them to another format, say from AIFF 16bit to SDII 24 bit, all is well and
all software behaves normally.

I just spoke to emagic tech support and here's a list of their 
suggestions....

1. Change file types to SDII (they can be converted via Logic's 
Audio window)
2. Change the length of the file names
3. Create a new user account in the OS (could be related to a 
corrupt user profile.
4. Trash Quicktime preferences
5. Verify disk permissions within Disk Utility.

Hope at least one of these suggestions will solve it.

Maybe this is a problem with the EXS24 cache system. Try to rename
your sampler instrument (or copy it with a different name) then load it
into the EXS24.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
