Hollowsun etc., bla bla...

Hollowsun etc., bla bla...

2004-06-07 by Sascha Franck

I'll gladly convert the rest of those patches - but it's gonna take a while
as I'm in holidays for two weeks (finally I may learn to surf, let's see how
the weather south of Biarritz is going to be like...). So maybe someone
else's gotta do it.

A good time to all of you,
Sascha

Akai conversion and acoustic piano disks

2004-06-09 by Andris Sice

I want to purchase some sample CDs. Akai is a sort of standard format so I'm
just wondering if people have successfully converted Akai to EXS. Was much
tweaking required afterwards?

Also, a classical pianist friend of mine came around last night and I asked
him to comment on the "pianoness" of a solo piano piece I'd written using
Logic and the EXS default piano. He has a pretty discerning ear and said it
sounded "a bit" like a piano (bear in mind that he wasn't commenting on the
music, only the timbral quality) . His main criticism was of the lower
notes. As crude as this sounds, would boosting the lower frequencies help?

Would anyone recommend a kick ass piano CD? The EXS default sounds quite
good already so I'd be after something that was substantially better.

Andris

Andris,

You may want to check out the Bardstown Bosendorfer Imperial Grand
Model 290. This piano was programmed and built from scratch in
EXS24. There are many mp3 demos of this beautiful sampled piano on
our web site, plus a lot of other useful information as well.

If you like the sound of a Yamaha, Vintaudio's Yamaha C7 in EXS24
format is another good piano to consider as well. www.vintaudio.com

SV: [EXS] Akai conversion and acoustic piano disks

Hi Andris.

The White Grand from SampleTekk comes in native EXS24 format.
Besides having a great sound, it also has 16 velocity samples pedal up
and 16 pedal down (+ 4 release samples).
No other sampled piano in the market comes close to this.
IMHO this gives the White Grand a dynamic response that’s unequalled and
gives the instrument a feel and playability that’s hard to match.
WH recently got a 10/10 review in Swedish magazine “Studio”, (first time
the magazine gives a “10” ever!), and it also has got a 4/5 review in
“Sound on Sound”.
Check out demos and more info on www.sampletekk.com
<http://www.sampletekk.com/> , or if you have any other questions,
please contact me directly at per@sampletekk.com
This month we are also celebrating summer by giving all our WG customers
a FREE piano together with WG! You canchoose between the “Studio Grand
88” and “Rain Piano”. (Value $95!) Read more about the deal and about
these two pianos at our site.

Best,
Worra

[EXS] Hollowsun -- more patches

2004-06-10 by Hendrik Jan Veenstra

New conversions of Hollow Sun patches at
http://www.omega-art.com/logic/index.html#laexs

Ensoniq SQ80 sync sweep
Ensoniq SQ80 pads+strings
Ensoniq SQ80 key spike
Ensoniq SQ80 basses
Farfisa organ
Hohner Clavinet D6
Hohner Pianet T
Monowave
Novation K-station basses
Novation K-station dance
Novation K-station strings

Theremin
Vako Orchestron choir
Vako Orchestron flute
Vako Orchestron organ

Sascha's Ensoniq Q80 conversions were incomplete -- some pads plus
key-spike or something. I couldn't understand the reasoning behind
it (Sascha?), so I threw those conversions out and replaced them with
a full set of SQ80 conversions.

My favourite must be the Theremin... if anyone cares... :) Play
legato and use modwheel for volume control. Happy downloading.
