Let alone that with individual ins you could a) record them synths all at
once, b) use live inputs to add plugins as realtime FX and c) even have all
that included in your final bounce without anything else.
Certainly quite some benefits of multi-in soundcards, if you ask me.

Btw, what about an RME Hammerfall DSP? I really like those a lot and when we
needed a card for the university's G5 it was our first choice. Yeah well, no
Mic in, but getting some sort of preamp should very well fit your budget it
seems (I mean, the MOTU is quite more expensive I think)
