loading multiple samples

2004-07-12 by synesthesian

In os 9 loading samples into exs (new inst) then zone (load multiple samples), you could
audition a sample, then add it to a list with all your other samples you've been auditioning
before you choose how to build the map. now in osx, theres no add.
you don't have that option anymore. theres only play, then open the sample to build
instrument.
not good when your going through alot of samples.
i hope theres a way to do this in osx, cause its a nightmare
building a exs instrument.
i also have battery wich i run with logic, and it does have the add feature!

I wholeheartedly agree. I really miss the add/cue feature of os9 ... I
emailed emagic about it when I first switched to OSX, and it didn't
sound like they were working on re-implementing that functionality.
what I've usually been doing is building my drum kit (say) with a
standard bank of sounds, then replacing each sound individually as I
progress through the track. It's an imperfect system, and I do really
miss the was this worked in 9.

Also, I occasionally do this in the finder with quicktime previews,
making a new folder for the collection of samples ... hearkens me back
to my old PC/Kurzweil K2000 days. aarg.

We should start a petition :-)

I can't believe they didn't implement the "add" functionality for OSX....
didn't stumble across that yet because the only Mac I use more or less
regularly is the university's G5 and when being there I've usually got other
things to do than patching samples.
Still, really hard to believe they left such an important thing out...

I've been using 'AudioFinder' OSX ap to audition & find files..
There's even a CMD key to make an alias of the sound file in a specified folder...
then in the EXS editor I just select them all..
(EXS editor CAN read audio alias files thank goodness).
