SampleTank - EXS conversion

SampleTank - EXS conversion

2004-12-04 by Stuart McConaghy

Hello all,

has anyone tried to convert SampleTank samples and libraries to the EXS
format? Is that even possible?

Reason being, I like the EXS a lot better than SampleTank, and want to
migrate my SampleTank sounds over to a single soft-sampler platform.

Thanks!

My guess is that it's going to be difficult:

- EXS cannot import SampleTank,
- Both commercial translators that I know of (cdxtract and translator)
cannot convert SampleTank into anything else.

But I would be interested in this too if you find any options.

The SampleTank libraries are SPECIFICALLY made not to be translated.
That's why they're using a proprietary format for sample storage (just like
a lot of libraries these days).

I've found a blurb about this on Translator's web site:

sampletank.html

So maybe there's hope.
