Opus 1 vs EWQSL

Opus 1 vs EWQSL

2004-12-08 by Gareth Hemmings

I have Opus 1 and have used it for a variety of things, mainly classical but
in some pop stuff. I would say its not really best for what you want -
samples are quite dry but not really aggressive enough for motown strings
feel. Isn't there a motown strings library from somewhere?

Thanks Gareth,

I don't know any other motown style string library. I do have
Ultimate strings, but only few patches are useful same for P.Sied, I
also have a D.Jaegger collection Cd in Roland format which sound
great but once converted in EXS it ends up with hundreds of patches
so it is not that great at the end;-) I did like the VSL pro I hear
but I haven't heard the Opus 1. Are they similar? Maybe you think
that it is not aggressive but the small libray I have is not better,
far from it. Is GPO any good for my need maybe?

Same samples, just fewer programs and samples stretched across a
whole step rather then every note.

They're all aggressive if you use the ff programs and use a long predelay.

Thanks for that, this is a good news as I did like this library.

Do you mean the library I already have? I is not as aggressive as the
VSL I heard, and I don't want to get back into "reprograming" the
samples.
The important thing for me is the live response, the same I got with
the VSL, my library doesn't have enough good patches for that
purpose, I would say they are best suited for writing and
programming... I usually play and record the performace live, and
then tweak it post recording.
