Emperor exs24

Emperor exs24

2004-12-21 by Murray McDowall

Hi,

Post Piano's Emperor arrived here today and is working fine in Kontakt but
on EXS24 PC the instrument definition is not loading the samples correctly
- white noise issues etc. The Kontakt version sounds great so the samples
are there on the drive OK - just the instrument definition doesn't seem at
home on Logic PC.

Michael Post suggested EXS Manager to straighten out the samples - he
confirmed that the instrument definition was built on a Mac and this is
likely to be a Mac PC thing - unfortunately the EXSManager demo for PC
produces a run time error and quits.

Has anyone got a working version of the Emperor Full.exs instrument
definition on PC? Perhaps you could email it to me if you have a minute.

Regards,
Murray

Hello Murray,
ExsManager *PC* is an old, unsupported project. Back in the time it
could handle the existing libraries with no problems, but in the past 3
years libraries have become more and more complex (Michiel did a really
great job i think), and the internal structure of ExsManager PC simply
can't handle this complexity. Just as a note, the OSX version has been
redesigned from scratch and has not this kind of "complexity problems".

I would try this: once you load the instrument in Exs24 (and it might
be painfully slow the first time), open the editor, select all zones,
then use the "zones/update selected file zone info from files" menu
item (should be in PC version as well AFAIK)

Then save the instrument, quit logic.
Now restart Logic load the instrument and this time it should play
correctly...

OK - thanks Andrea. This procedure seems to have fixed the main problem with
the files - no more white noise.

The only issue remaining is that the Release samples which are 16 bit/48kHz in
the Zones but, except for two files (A0 and A1), are 24 bit/48 kHz on the disk.

These files which start with letters (A0 to F6) which are sitting in the
Emperor folder and due to the format difference are not found by the EXS24
upon loading - it starts by reporting that it has found the D5 file in Old
Lady. I have manually associated the release group zones with the 24 bit files
and that seems to have fixed this latter problem and the instrument loads
correctly.

Murray

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
