Samples Loading Twice

Samples Loading Twice

2005-03-13 by Eli Krantzberg

Hi All,

Ever since I upgraded to L7 I have been experiencing a strange thing.
Now that we can see the progress bar as samples are being loaded in, it
seems like EXS samples are being loaded in twice whenever I open a
session. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? If it matters, I am
using version 6.1.2 of the Digi Core Audio drivers with my old Digi 001
on a dual 1.25 G4.

Not here Eli.
Do you also get this when you load a new EXS24 instrument?

Good question; I hadn't thought to check this. No, I don't get it when
I load up a new EXS instrument inside an existing song. I get it when I
open my autoload that has an EXS instrument in it.

I just thought of a possible explanation. I have my autoload as a
"template". And maybe as such, it needs to load it twice, since it does
seem to operate as the old stationary pad type of file where it loads a
copy of the autoload. So maybe it needs to load it once on launching
the autoload and again on launching the stationary pad style copy??? It
seems strange, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Can anyone else test this? Save an autoload as a template with an EXS
instrument in it. And see if it appears to be loading twice when you
open it.

Hi again Eli,

I tested this and when I close Logic and re-start, it only searches
for the samples once.
I have another idea:
Maybe your autoload has the same instrument loaded twice, perhaps in
another layer, or you accidentally have a duplicate of the same
instrument or layer somehow?

???

Good suggestion. I checked, and everything looks clean. It seems to
only do it when I launch logic for the first time; not when I re-open
an autoload once the app is already launched. I can live with it.... It
just seems strange. And this is with a fresh autoload I rebuilt with
L7.
