Some free Virus Samples

Some free Virus Samples

2005-03-10 by Alex Gibson

Hello EXS people,

I spent a few hours last night sampling some percussion/FX sounds
from my Virus. Most of them are recorded raw without the Virus's FX,
so you have some nice gritty sounds to mess with and make your
own :)

Thought I would post them on my iDisk...

Hope u find them useful!

Wow, my 3rd favorite synth after MiniMoog and ARP 2600! Thanks, Alex!

Best,

Andy

Hope you enjoy them!

Dear Alex,

Thanks for the samples. Do you like the virus and find it versatile
compared with soft synths. I sold all my analog gear a few years ago. I
had a synth called a VOyetra 8 with a great arppegiater and have been
sorry ever since. Thought about the virus.

The Voyetra 8 is a great story! I remember the rack, and it had a modular
arcitecture and so many killer analog things on it. I would love to have
one again.

It was so ahead of its time, the first versions had a XLR jack for the MIDI
in and outs - they wrongly anticipated what the plug spec was going to be.
And it was 8 voices with oscillators that had sub-oscillators...

I even had a Kitten and a Cat that the company (called Octave-Plateau) made
beforehand; essentially the V-8 was a derivative and improvement on those
designs.

O-P was so ahead of the curve they made a separate joystick controller that
controlled parameters in a A-B-C-D fashion - the joystick is even on the
V-8 too. This is really before Korg put joysticks on their keyboards - the
first of those was the Poly-800 if I remember right.

Oh, these vintage tangents...
