OPUS 1/2

I am leaning towards OPUS bundle. The extra instruments in Opus 2 are very impressive !
BUT , i need advice about method of working with a dual gig G4. I have 1.5 ram.
CAN you work with a section of the orch at a time, bounce to audio and add to it that way ,
a section at a time ?
Does anyone work this way or recommend VSL at all ?

many thanks

Lynne

Hi Lynne,

You could either bounce to audio, or even freeze tracks if you use
Logic (or other apps which support freezing).

I use the VSL Pro Edition, but the principle is the same - you can
push your system to its own limit, then reduce load as possible. 1.5
Gb RAM should get you pretty far....

May I suggest that you join the VSL forum (on their website) as folks
there are very helpful and responsive, and will give you far more
detail than I can.

Regards - Colin

Thank you so much Colin , and Nick for your encouragement.

As it happens, my last memory chip 512 was 'bad' and was the apparent cause of many
program crashes. I only found out last few days installing logic 7 and ivory; they both
failed until the chip was taken out. Certainly a contributor to techno phobia.

I had thought one needed to own vsl to post on their forum, unless i misunderstood; but i
could certainly read the messages at least.

HOWever, suddenly i am distracted by the group buy for EWSO PLATINUM which will likely
be 1200 usd.
Are there any comments, Colin or others about the use of Platinum in Logic - or, one dual
gig g4, for that orchestra ? Does it really boil down to picking the sounds ? If one ends up
with both libraries eventually, the group buy will come and go but VSL will 'live on'.

I really admire the VSL site, their support and their email response as op to...

many thanks again

Lynne

After listening to the demos of VSL versus other orchestral libraries I
was convinced that VSL is the most authentic sounding at this time.
I think it has a lot to do with the legato tool.
Also it utilises the EXS rather than a proprietary kompakt player.
Finally, I prefer using reverb to having multiple samples for "distance
miking".

These factors have persuaded me that it's better to save to get into
the "VSL path" than even such a low price as the group buy would create
(although this may not happen nearly as easily as it did for the Gold
bundle).
