EXS slows down Logic boot!!

EXS slows down Logic boot!!

2001-08-09 by Roger Jackson

I'm surprised that no-one seems to have mentioned the fact that when
you have converted several discs for use with EXS Logic takes a
loooong time to scan them all every time you boot, whether you are
using them in that song or not.
I feel it would be much better to be able to audition the sounds -
maybe even sample only, then load in only what you need. But as it
is, you have to have everything there in sampler instruments which
have to be scanned every time.

Compare the funcionality of Akai 5000 and its USB card giving you
storage of all the parameters on the computer along with the song,
and you only load in what you need. Emu are coming up with a similar
arrangement too.

yes its a nightmare if u have a lot of exs files ,
when LAP finnally boots and u start workin its all okay, and i like
fast sample selection in control view with numerical + and - keys.
BUT when i switch to some other task in win,and go back to LAP it
starts scanning again^%^(^%* (if EXS24 is opened or when u open it
again) and THATS a nightmare if u ask me.I think we need manual
scan/stop scan button or smth.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
