Halion Solutions for some

Halion Solutions for some

2001-10-10 by orgeneral

Hi
After having crashes with more than 2 Halions in Logic
I finally found (which seems to be the best way for now)a way to be
able to use it safely.
Maybe some of you found this earlier but anyway for others who did not
and have the stuff below here it goes.

First of all you need Cubase(Not Joking)
And you need to use OMS

Launch Cubase open a new Halion plugin
Launch Logic go to enviroment select update oms equivalents say yes
to create then delete all.
then create a multi instrument
select Halion from the oms list
that's it. now you can control your Halion plug in from Logic which
is in Cubase . And yes it is multitimbral.

I use TDM plus Motu 828 Firewire.
So both Cubase and Logic use the 828 together w/o any problems.

Thanks
Oz

Not to be rude, but promoting Cubase and Halion, jointly, to an EXS24 users
group who predominately use Logic is a bit off key, if you'll pardon the
pun. A Halion note here and there seems appropriate to me, but you won't
sway many Logic users to switch to Cubase (incidentally Halion works fine
for me in Logic). Take this with a grain of salt; I do not intend to offend
you. -Jer

I had no intention of that
I haven't been using Cubase for a long time either.
I use EXS a lot but sometimes I want to use the futures of Halion
like with gig convert I can use gig libraries with it. And filters etc
It was just a solution for people who wanted to try it. That's it.
As I said no other intension.

Sorry If I've offended some

No big deal. I probably over reacted. Halion is a great VST sampler!

Im one of those guys that really would love to use Halion but the interface
is so fucking crap if you compare it to EXS yesterday I had a friend at my
place andI learned him EXS in 10 minutes that would be impossible in Halion
and for me it comes a lot to the interface its using!

Best regards to you all!

Alvaro Villalobos.

I agree with you on the learning curve, but it's filtering and routing is
superior. Still, I do most of my work in the EXS. I'm sure Emagic is working
on the next generation as I type that will no doubt compete aggressively
with Halion and most certainly will be retro-readable. If the EXS24 does
what you need. Stick with it!

YEs, Halion is totally far superior to EXS24 in many ways, especially
on Cubase with total VST output support, but the only reason I say
that here is in hopes that someone is listening and will change that
fact. I'd rather use an Emagic product, any day if I can get what I
need from it. I have both.
