Hi there,

We can verify that the Akai versions of Liquid Grooves and Liquid Grooves
Groove Control work perfectly with the built-in conversion of the EXS24. (set
it to Odb for the best sound quality).

You can check out for yourself a little of what Groove Control can do with
the EXS for free on our TUNE IN page....in fact, this month's posting is a
bit Liquid Groovesque!

http://www.spectrasonics.net/tunein/index.html

BTW, since you are interested in Acoustic Rock, you should definitely our
brand new Backbeat library that has Groove Control:

http://www.spectrasonics.net/products/backbeat.html

and our Bass Legends disc is an essential for this style too:

http://www.spectrasonics.net/basslegends.html

....enough shameless plugs for now!

All the best,

Eric Persing

Hey Eric,

I love these sounds. But, Can I play those sounds from, say, my
EXS24, or dr008, once converted to wav files, just as any samples, and
not use the "groove control" sequences if I want? The "groove control"
is cool, but I'd like to also play my stuff too.

thanks,
df

I tried a groove once, and it looked to me to simply be a sequence and a
sample kit, so it seems entirely feasible to do whatever you like with the
midi data...

I'll agree. Burning Grooves is quite a nice disc too although it is not in
Groove Control format. If you go to the Spectrasonics site
(www.spectrasonics.net), you can check out the backbeat demos which sound
very very good. If I was buying right now, I would be picking up the
Backbeat disc right now. I can confirm that Bass Legends is quite a useful
disc as well. I use it all of the time.

For brass, it is going to cost you a bit of $$$ for a good CD Rom. The best
one that I have heard so far has been the Quantum Leap Brass CD set.
However, I don't know how well this set converts into exs-24 format. I
believe that there are some people here who use this set. Maybe they can
tell you. It will set you back anywhere from $500-650, depending on the
deal that you can get.

Good luck and HTH,
Fernando

p.s. - I don't have any affiliation with Eric Persing or Spectrasonics. I
just love the Spectrasonics and Ilio CD-Roms. Some of the best sounding and
well programmed discs on the market IMHO.

Hi DF,

Of course this is one of the best features of Groove Control....you can
completely play your own pattern, but with the sound of the original loop!
Also, you can use the converted waves or AIFFs in any other application like
DR-008, Battery, etc.

Best,

Well, as an objective user, let me say that the Groove Control system
is fantastic. You have such freedom in controlling and varying tempos
of grooves, as well as re-arranging the patterns to create fills,
light mixes, variations etc etc.

I have a drawer full of Spectrasonics libraries - just wish that
CDXtract for Mac was here........(I'm on Roland format)

Go for it and enjoy!
