EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

Hy.
I have two unsolved problems I can´t figure out

1.
I have a partition (a) that as all the AKAI CD´s converted with 
CDXtract 3.6
I them put the shortcuts of the directories (like classical,rock, 
etc...) that are on the (a) in the samplerinst. folder in logic 
directory.
When I open the EXS24 he scans the partition (a) and shows the
CD´s. But, there allways something missing. I can be an entire
directory (like classical )or just a CD.Sometimes it shows
CD1 and CD3 other CD2 and CD3.It never, but never shows all
Cd´s. Why is my question. It´s a totally random behaviour

2.
Some programs click at the begining. I edit the wave, play it
and no clic at all!!If it´s not there where is it coming from?????

This reminds me of one of my major gripes. I would like to store samples
from the same multi-instrument kit (such as a 909) in the same folder but be
able to link to an all hi-hats 909 instrument (for example) through the
"hats" folder. But shortcuts to actual instruments won't show up on the
EXS24, A MAJOR INCONVEINECE EMAGIC (IF YOU'RE LISTENING). I've tried
everything I could think of like experimenting with creator codes, etc., but
nothing helps. I wish Emagic would consider the value of this kind of
flexibility. Seems like the code would be very easy.

Remember, I'm not talking about directories. I'm talking about shortcuts to
actual instruments on Mac. That's bummer news about the folders on Windows,
though. That would annoy me much more!

Well, Maarten,actually it does works in windows!
I have logic in partition c, and directories on d
with the akai samples.
Example: d:\classic\Ultimate Piano Collection\PartitionA\exs file

the shortcut in c: is to classic folder.

It does apear in exs24 submenu!
with all CD´s and progs.
But for same strange reason, if I have 6 folders,
smoetimes only 5 appear, sometimes 6 but the last doesn´t show all
the Cd´s. It´s really a suprise each time you open it.
It as no LOGIC.

What version off Logic are you using and what version off Windows? 
(Me 4.7.2 LAWP and W'98 se)

What does the flip menu show to you?

Is it:

classic > Ultimate Piano Collection > PartitionA > exs file 1
                                                   exs file 2
Or just

exs file 1
exs file 2

Where did you put the shortcut? In wich map?

Where are did you put the wav files?

Well
I´m using WindowsMe plus Logic Gold 4.8.1
I converted everything with CDXtract 3.6 wich is 100 times faster
them EXS24:)

When I convert Ultimate Piano Collection with this,
The progs are stored in a dir called Ultimate Piano Collection 
( or other name I choose ), in this dir there are the all waves
plus subdirs called Partition1, PArtition2,etc..
Inside Partition1 there are all the exs files belonging to that 
partition.
So it appears in EXS24
classic > Ultimate Piano Collection > PartitionA > exs file 1
                                                   exs file 2

I them put (it´s and example) Ultimate Piano Collection inside
a Dir called CLASSIC click on CLASSIC-> send to desktop as shortcut
and drag the shortcut to Programs\emagic\blablabla\Sampler Intruments.

And when you open EXS24 appears what I said.
The prob is if you do this EXACTLY for lets say 60 CD´s, Only 50 will
 appear or if you have ten root dirs like CLASSIC only 6,7 appear,
sometimes one appears but nothing in it, sometimes only half of the 
CD´s, and all was donne the same way! If it works 5 times, it should 
work the other half right????

And the clicks at the trigger of samples when there is no click in 
the original wave?

REALLY STRANGE......

I have to say I have 768 Mb of RAM wich is not good in Me.
But I have put a limite in msconfig.exe to 490Mb and nothing changed.

Please, what´s the secret to this thing???

The clicks are a known problem with CDXtract. If you adjust the 
sample start to 1 from 0 the click usually goes away. A big pain with 
lots of multisamples, though.

BTW, this click does not seem to occur as much with Translator. I am 
not an advocate of either one, in fact, I bought BOTH. Each has its 
strengths and weaknesses, but both are getting better with each new 
version.

As to the moving and/or missing files, I don't have the problem, and 
I am using a shortcut for both instruments and samples. LAWP 4.7.2 is 
on C:, samples and instruments are on D:. In the Logic directory, I 
replace the instruments folder with a short cut to the instruments 
folder on D:. Same thing with the samples folder. (Can't remember the 
exact folder names, machine is at home.) The only problem I ever have 
is when I need to move samples around and Logic has to find them 
(takes maybe 10 seconds), but once it does, it doesn't need to look 
again.
