Steinberg The Grand

Steinberg The Grand

2002-01-20 by Paul Martinson

Well out of my 384 megs of Ram I was able to give Logic 300 megs to get the
Grand to work. Sounds great!
It is very Ram intensive and still needs more. Good thing I just bought 512
megs today and will install soon. The string resonance is incredible! All
the other great samples I have used including Kurzweil Piano sounds don't
compare with the string resonance that The Grand has. It stays so crisp
compared to other samples I have used when using the sustain pedal. Wow! if
your looking for great string resonance with crystal clear highs this
compares to the real thing. Very nice...

Well, I'm sold now. You guys should work for Steinberg. Guess I'll go max
out my dual g4 since RAM is pretty cheap at the moment.

RE: [exs] Steinberg The Grand

Hi there,

just a question... can it run as a standalone module such as how reaktor
or absynth can run.
I keep all the soft synths off my Mac and run them on a bunch of PC's I
have collected over the years.

Cheers,

James

RE: [exs] Steinberg The Grand

2002-01-22 by Richmond, James (James) ** CTR **

For a few reasons...

I run the EXS24 on my Mac, and have loads of audio tracks running, so it
means that I leave more processing power to those functions.
Other than that it is calculated to give me a workspace a few people cna
work in without it getting too crowded.
I can be mixing whilst someone else is designing sounds with headphones
on.

Aside from that it seems pointless to have all these PC's lying around
doing nothing when for less than the cost of one synth I can have them
all kitted out with 24/96 capable audio cards and multiport midi
interfaces.

Lastly it impresses the hell out of prospective clients to see all this
gear lying around waiting to be used.
You should see thier lil eyes light up. :-)

LOL
