EXS instruments scanning SOLUTION

Hi,

I got a solution for the scanning problem!
I indexed my harddrive with Sherlock and now the scanning time is reduced
from 8 minutes to 20 seconds!

Can you be a little more descriptive of how you index a drive in sherlock?
Thanks

Doesn't indexing itself take a long, long time? I disabled the feature
because the time just irritates me. I also add items to my HD all the time
and would have to index it often. -Jer

I don't think anyone answered this yet.
Open Sherlock 2
Go to <File> menu and choose <Index Volumes...>
Select the volume you wish to index. For multiple selection, use <shift> click.

If you have never indexed, select <create index> or <update index> if you have.

Boil the kettle, make tea, watch TV and have a rest......it'll take some time!
Or, as someone already suggested, use the schedule feature for while
you're asleep.

I know it's a bit offtopic but what's the point of indexing drives with
sherlock ?
I never used it before and I don't know the purpose of it !

Thanks
Vincent

Re: [exs] about indexing

It's used to search text within documents. Let's say you've lost a file, but
you know it's somewhere in your drive. You just don't know where or what it
is called. Once indexed, you can find that file based on it's contents.
That's why it takes so long to index... there's a whole lot of data in
there. Apparently, judging from the other posts, it also helps the finder
keep very specific track of where everything sits. That would explain why
the EXS24 search is sped up so dramatically. Still, a surprising perk none
the less. -Jer

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
