sample/group editing

2002-01-31 by Kurt Heinecke

Hey all,
New to the group, big vision user in the past, getting up and running on
everything, including SXE, I mean EXS- sorry Garth....

Here's my EXS question...

Let's say I've got a flute patch that takes up 3 octaves. I've got a
second patch of flute runs that takes up 2 octaves. I've successfully
copied one into the other, to create a combined "master" patch of flute
sounds. I want them spread out over the keyboard so they don't
interfere with each other, creating 5 octaves of sound. But both
instruments are layered in the same octaves. Now I've figured out how
to move the numerous samples of the flute run down two octaves, by
shifting the note ranges and center note of each sample, but that's 3
adjustments for every sample. Is there any way to grab the whole group
and shift it in whole? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Kurt Heinecke

Update on the suggestions below:

This technique works great. I've created some "master" instruments,
combining up to 6 different patches across the keyboard (some filling 10
octaves!- ie. solo trumpet, trumpet section, harmon mute, cup mute), to
give me multiple variations of an instrument in one patch. Thanks for
the tip!
kurt

Wow. I did not know this was possible (shifting zones). Thanks a
million!
