Yay for us! I had a C64 in 84 that I modded. Put something in it called 'Dolphin DOS'... it used the parallel port instead of the serial port for 1541 disk drives... sped it up about 10X. Put a reset button on it (instead of a paper clip on pins 1&3) and another button that lauched a hex editor. Then everything went object oriented and I couldnt code for shit :-) Did you ever have a sequencer for the C64? JR

I had a sequencer for the C64. Cant remember what it was called but it was a C-Lab sequencer. I even sequenced a whole album using it in 84 I think it was and we ran it synced to tape using SMPTE. It did however crash quite a lot. It was a relatively quick move to Atari and Notator from there. Regards, John John Russell <mailto:johnrussell@...> johnrussell@... Nope no sequencer. I played a lot of games. Made my 64 speak to me, and played some synth stuff without any kind of sequencer.

Hi > > Did you ever have a sequencer for the C64? As far as I remember the first sequencer I worked with was C64 based. I remember saving and loading to/from cassette decks. And wasn't it a Steinberg one or maybe the C-lab one that evolved into Logic? No, it was a Steinberg product called something like Pro24 or something. Anyway it must have been in 1983-1984. As far as I remember we soon switched to Atari when they came out with their built-in midi interface. Actually that was what made me interested in information technology, mainly my fascination with how music could be presented in different graphic ways to allow for diffent kinds of tweaking......and now I'm an IT professional. Kind regards, Soren Riis-Vestergaard

Yes, indeed Steinberg Pro24 was the first sequencer for C64. Around 1986 Pro24 became available for the atari 1040St (that's where i jumped in) and then was succeeded by Cubase Atari which appeared around 1989/1990. I think the very first sequencer program(s)for a computer, where released for the Apple II (Herbie Hancock used it in the early 80s). But I can't remember any names. Sorry for the OT, but this stuff brings back some good old memories! ewald --- In exs-users@y..., "sorenrv" <sorenrv@h...> wrote: > Hi > > > > Did you ever have a sequencer for the C64? > > As far as I remember the first sequencer I worked with was C64 based. > I remember saving and loading to/from cassette decks. This has been a fun string. Thanks for the memories. BTW, I'm also in IT, but I got into it by running a studio and getting into graphic design and wanting to be able to fix my own equipment. Anyway, back to the topic of the list...
