Organising your Library

The biggest drawback to EXS24 seems to be that it just chucks everything into the "Sampler Instruments" folder in alphabetical order, making it nearly impossible to find the sound you want unless you know what it is already called. This is a such waste of the power of the computer, and a bizarre shortcoming. I see from the list that this has been noted by Clemens, the developer, but in the meantime, here are some ideas: Store all your instruments in sorted folders, not in the sampler instruments folder, and just bring them in there as needed for each song. The actual instrument files are not too large, and copy quickly. It doesn't matter where the samples are. They are always put in their own folders anyway, within the Samples folder. For keen archivists, you can then archive this folder containing only the instruments for that project, along with your song and audio files. Remember to create a new empty "Sampler Instruments" folder for your next project. Remember that any AKAI discs converted will chuck their contents into the Sampler Instruments folder by default, and you will have to re- sort them into your "classified" folders. It's not ideal, and it would be better if you got a dialogue asking where you wanted to keep new instruments, and from the EXS24 control you could browse and open instruments from any folder, not just the Sampler Instruments folder. And an excellent previous suggestion from this list: As you load them in, give each instrument a prefix, like DRM for drums, STR WND BRS BAS etc. keep it to 3 letters always, and they will line up alphabetically according to type. Hope this helps some of you!
