Soundforge can batch convert Sounddesigner files into wav files. Did that some days ago and works great. Bye, Joeri -- Joeri Vankeirsbilck joeri@... Before I spend the money on the CD-ROM, please let me ask you these questions: 1) Do you yourself have a PC using LAWP/EXS24? 2) Have you already successfully accomplished the conversion operation you mentioned above - that is, on your PC, converting a Mac- formatted CD-ROM containing SDII files into Motorla bytes and then to standard wave files using Sound Forge? 3) If you do a batch convert with Sound Forge, do each of the individual SDII files come back as individual waves that can then be imported directly into the EXS24 (PC)? Thanks for letting me know, David Benus

Of course, otherwise I wouldn't claim it's possible! I only believe things when I've tried them out myself! I've recently done this because I had to remix a project: I got all the vocals in SD2 on a Mac-made ISO**** CD-rom (can't remember the number). To make sure it works with your files, I have a suggestion: send me one SD2 file and I'll send back a wave file to you. In case you have a direct connection to the internet, you can even mail me all your files and I'll convert them for you. Only takes seconds for me. > 3) If you do a batch convert with Sound Forge, do each of the > individual SDII files come back as individual waves that can then be > imported directly into the EXS24 (PC)? Yes indeed! I suggest you send me a SD2 file and I'll return a wav file. Then we'll be 100% sure it also works for you. Bye, Joeri -- Joeri Vankeirsbilck joeri@... Hello again, Joeri, The guy selling the Mac sample CD-ROM was kind enough to convert the SDII samples to Wave for us, but they come up on the newly-converted CD-ROM together with the SDII files but without any extensions (.wav or SDII). We are able to use Sound Forge to highlight and tell which samples on the disc are Mac (they show up in the preview screen as unknown file type) and which are .wav (they show up as Rif wave files). It is easy enough using Sound Forge to rename the files adding the .wav extension to the correctly formatted sound files, but it has to be done one file at a time. I looked and tried to do a batch convert as you mentioned, and also looked for a way to batch rename the untitled extension-less .wav files, but I was not able to decipher the correct procedures for accomplsihing this task. I really appreciate your offer to convert the samples for us, but the CD-ROM is about 500MB, and it is not realistic to be able to get all the files to you and back, as we are still using a 56k modem. I would ask instead, if you don't mind, that you instruct me how to accomplish this task, step by step, within Sound Forge. We are very new to the program, and getting this kind of help from someone who has the knowledge and experience will save us hours of learning curve time. Please let me know if this help is possible within your busy schedule. Hi David, Could you send me one SD file and one wav file of that CD if possible? I'll first test it and I'll then report. The reason is that the conversion settings aren't always the same. You can mail to joeri@... (PS: to save some money, send the smallest possible file) Which leads me to an OT message to the list: does anyone know a freeware/shareware program that can "batch" rename files? I've been looking for that for other filetypes as well. Sorry for the delay.. Just load the "extension-less" SD2 files eg in the batchconvertor. In the batch convertor, there is a setting where you can set properties for raw files (source raw attributes). Set that to Mac redbook audio (that should work imo) or something like that. Then in conversion settings, set up filetype to WAV PCM etc... that's it. Now apply the conversion (don't forget to set a destination folder first). Hope this helps, Joeri -- Joeri Vankeirsbilck joeri@... Yesterday I tried to make a guitar patch with one sample with portamento glide settings, but it retriggers the sample on each sequenced note. This works perfectly fine on the ES1, but apparently not on the EXS24 and other VST instruments. From what I can tell, it's transmitting the pitch-slide instructions at the same time it sends new note on-triggers for each sequenced note, when all it should do is send the pitch glide commands, provided my sequenced notes overlap. I did configure the instrument for one voice only with the portamento setting "on" and a healthy glide setting. I'd appreciate any feedback from other people who have tried to configure similar programming and have insight into this problem. Isn't there any other users out there that have problems with portamento? If you are using a Mac and you have successfully used portamento glide in the EXS, can you please respond? This is bothering me deeply. Only in the ES1 does the mono port-glide function properly, within LAP 4.61. Any clues would be appreciated. No other VST instruments' mono-glide function properly (see my last post on this subject for more details). In laymen's terms, in a sequence with overlapping notes, I want one note to glide up to the next, instead of retriggering.
