There has been substantial discussion on Soundfonts on this list. In short,
they are a single file containing a group of samples, keymapping and filter
data information, all rolled into one, for use in Cakewalk and a few other
programs. There's tons of soundfonts available on the net, so it is helpful
to be able to convert them accurately. Translator (www.chickensys.com) does
the most comprehensive conversion to other formats. For more insight into
