Wouldn't doing a save as from the first song, giving it a new name then
just deleting any recorded sequences do the trick? You could even use
the subsequent file as a template. I have a folder that I call templates
that I put templates per client or kind of session (such as rap, rock,
orchestral....) it just gives me a quick jumping off point where things
are where I can find them quickly. Hope this helps.

Ted

Actually, what I was trying to describe is a bit different- when I open
one song, I close another, but with both using the same exs instruments,
is there a way I don't have to reload all the instruments again...a way
to, in a sense, keep exs open to the same patches while opening a new
logic song? Anybody else doing this? Thanks.

To be more specific, when two songs are open with a lot of DSP pumping
in
each song, the screen draw can really slow down. At least, I've seen
this
happen on a G4-400 Mac. It adds a lot of load to the CPU. You may have
to
put up with the close & open process if your experiencing performance
problems with both songs open. You can open your system performance
monitor
to see how much load is on the CPU once you load one and then the other
song. I imagine the meter will jump up a bit as a result. You could try
allocating more RAM to Logic if your on a Mac. -Jer

We were all missing the point here. What he wants is two songs to access the
EXACT same EXS24 instruments. This is not possible as all VST/Logic
Instruments are song-specific and not a global resource. The same exact
instruments can't possibly be accessed in this way. As nice as this would
be, it's more important for me to be able to save every parameter per song.
If both ways of doing things were permitted, that would be great. But if I
have to choose one way or the other, the current system is better for me.
What is being requested here is really multiple sequences (subsongs)
accessing a single song file's resources. No one does this from any company
as far as I know. You could use various songs in packed folders. Actually,
that might work very well. Write a song, pack the folder in the arrange
window. And Mute the songs you don't want to trigger. Always keep a generic,
ready-to-go packed folder to start new songs. You'd have a lot of midi data
in your file (make lots of frequent back ups since you would have so much
riding on this single file). This method would enable you to access the same
resources from multiple songs (the packed folders within a single logic song
file). Hope this helps. It's the only way your idea will work. -Jer

Hello!

I don\ufffdt understand what you mean I have all my EXS sounds made for all my
tracks so I don\ufffdt understand what you mean my EXS instruments are not at all
song specific!

The best,

Alvaro Villalobos.

All your EXS24 settings are saved in the song, not in some other way. That's
all I'm saying. I don't really know what you are disputing here. My
suggestion provides a solution for having multiple "songs" tied to the very
same EXS24 instruments. Having the same EXS24 settings identical in various
song files doesn't mean they share the same DSP load. I'm out of breath on
this one. If you are not following me, I don't know how else to explain it.
Best wishes, Jer
