Trying to convert an Akai CDROM, nothing is registering!?

I open the akai convert box then put the akai CDROM in the drive and push it in. I have to open the akai convert windoe or the mac OS will ask to eject or initialise. I have converted many cdroms in the past in the exs. Funny thing is I can see the same cdrom in the Battery akai menu. So the data is still there. I suspect this is a common problem.
